jigar ki jusatajuo

📜 Lyrics

They seek my heart, what do I do with their gaze? I long for their gaze, what do I do with my heart? (They seek my heart, what do I do with their gaze?) (I long for their gaze, what do I do with my heart?) In just a single night, all of life's stages were crossed, The evening of life has arrived, what do I do with the dawn now? The madness of my heart is growing, my state is indeed wretched, If not love, it is madness indeed, what do I do with its effect? In just a single night, all of life's stages were crossed, The evening of life has arrived, what do I do with the dawn now? I am not satisfied with the earth, it is low and unpleasing, The heavens are too high, what do I do with my desire to see? Alas, someone cure me, alas, someone pray for me, Alas, there is pain in my heart, alas, what do I do with my heart? In just a single night, all of life's stages were crossed, The evening of life has arrived, what do I do with the dawn now? There is no one of true vision, that is why I admire myself, I look at myself, what do I do with my own talent? Upon the severing of ties, the lightning of attention fell, We met on the path, what do I do with the path? I long for their gaze, what do I do with my heart... Alas, there is pain in my heart, alas, what do I do with my heart... What do I do with the dawn now...

💡 Meaning & story

Composed by Mohammad Farooq Composed by Mohammad Farooq Written by Hafeez Jalandhari 1900-1982 Central Theme of the Ghazal This ghazal reflects that tangled aspect of human emotions where, on one hand, one yearns for the beloved's attention, while on the other, one grieves over life passing by so quickly and the lack of appreciation for one's art. It describes a state of mind where one finds oneself helpless before circumstances and love. Meaning of the Verses They seek my courage and fortitude... There is a strange conflict of desires between my beloved and me. The beloved wishes to test my patience and fortitude (heart), while my desire is only for them to cast a single glance of love upon me. In this situation, I am helpless—what do I do with my heart, and what do I do with their gaze? All in the span of a single night... The journey of life passed by so quickly, as if it were the story of just a single night. Now that the evening of life (the final hour) has arrived, what is the use of waiting for a new dawn or a new hope? The madness of the heart is indeed increasing... The restlessness of my heart has crossed all limits, and my state is dire. People call it madness (insanity) if not love, but whatever the name, how do I save myself from its intensity and effect? Not satisfied with the earth... My thoughts, standards, and aesthetic sense are so elevated that this world (the earth) seems very trivial to me, yet the sky (the heavens) is beyond my reach. I am trapped between two extremes—what do I do with this high taste of mine? Alas, someone find a cure... This verse reflects the intense pain and longing of love. The poet laments that a sickness of love has taken hold of the heart, the intensity of which is unbearable; let someone find a cure or pray for this pain. There is no one of true vision... In this world, there are no people left who can appreciate true art and skill. When there is no connoisseur, I praise my own art myself. After all, how can one let their own talent go to waste? Upon severing all ties... I had firmly resolved to sever all ties with the beloved, but suddenly they met me on the way, and a single loving glance of theirs turned all my resolutions to dust. Now, what do I say to this path that has brought us face-to-face once again? Message for the Audience "This ghazal speaks for the hearts of all those who have ever felt the helplessness of love and the swift passage of time in life."
